You can always go to the grocery and buy these growing vegetables, but it is more interesting if you grow them from kitchen scraps by yourself!
It’s obviously that, it will require you more time, but the benefits are enormous! You will save money and you can do them indoors, without farm.
All you need to do is use fresh scraps. Do not use stuff that has been composting for weeks. When regrowing the plants, make sure you provide them with enough light and water.
Re-grow scallions only by using their discarded roots. Leave an inch of the scallion attached to the root then put them in a glass of water. Place the glass of water in a room that’s well-lit.
You can grow garlic sprouts from the garlic clove and have a mild flavor from that of garlic. The sprouts can be added to pasta, salads and other dishes. When they begin to sprout, have them placed in a glass that has little water.
In a well lit area, place the Bok Choy’s root ends in water. Give them 1-2 weeks then transplant them to a pot that has soil. It may grow a new full head.
Have you ever heard that, you can re-grow carrot greens from chopped off carrot tops!!! Place them in a dish with about 1/2 inch of water in a well-lit room or indirect sunlight. Carrot greens are bitter, they are delicious chopped up with garlic and sweetened with vinegar for salads.
Instead of buying a huge bag of celery, take a couple of pieces and use them to grow your own by cutting off the base and place in it in a shallow bowl of water in the sun. Once leaves start to appear after about 3 days, transfer the plant to soil.
If you place the stems of cilantro in a glass of water, they will grow. When the roots become long enough, plant them in a pot that has soil. Place them in a room with ample lighting. The plants will be fully grown in a few months.
